Florida State held a commanding 14 point lead in the 2nd half of this one, however Cal fought back, and took a 52-42 lead with about 1:00 remaining.
FSU scored quickly, and left about 10 seconds on the clock. The following onside kick was successful and legal(no switching of players before the kick, and the ball went at least 10 yards). Now with 1 second remaining, and the Ball at the FSU 49, Chris Rix heaved one to the right WR who just beat the right corner. The only other person in the area was the middle linebacker, who made a meaningless leap at the wide receiver at the 3 as he ran into the endzone untouched.
Florida State had just stolen the game of the year.
