LSU knew it had a good defense, boasting the nation's best Secondary as they traveled to sold out Ann Arbor and the highly touted Michigan offense, led by Chad Henne and Braylon Edwards.
However, the LSU defense was dominant. LSU picked off Henne 3 times in the first half and led 10-7.
The LSU offense was futile, riddled by dropped passes, sacks, and a tough Michigan blitz.
In the 3rd quarter, LSU picked off Mich again, but LSU on 3 3rd quarter possesions didnt have a single 3rd down, punting all 3 times. Mich finally hit a big bomb to Edwards and scored for a 14-10 lead.
After LSU punted 2 more time, Michigan finally scored again for a 21-10 lead with 3 to go.
LSU finally hit a deep pass, then a 20 yd TD, and it was 21-17. Mich was stopped, but LSU stalled at their own 40 on downs after 2 dropped passes on 3rd and 4th down by the rb on screens.
Mich was stopped AGAIN, and LSU started at their own 20. Improbably LSU slowly moved up the field with dink and dunk passes. They got to the Mich 15. 1st play:drop. 2nd down: deflection. 3rd down: sack. 4th and 23, LSU dropped back but the blitz was in his face like usual. He threw a pass but it was only for 15 yards, and Mich held on to win.
