DYNASTIES! Is back after a long delay due to lightning frying my router and then the forums being down again for almost a week!
No matter though we kick off the 2nd half with the next installment of “IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY”
SEEDS: (Assuming Neb beats Michigan and Stanford beats OU)
Bowl Teams (Top 3 seeds, Conf champs, 2 byes)
#1, Fiesta Bowl host: Miami91 6-1, 2-1 (East Coast Conf leader)
#2, Orange Bowl host: Stanford 5-1-1, 3-0 (Big West leader)
#3, Sugar Bowl host: Georgia 5-1, 2-0 (North Amer Conf leader)
Best of the Rest (#4-6 seeds, 1 bye)
#4 FloridaSt87 5-1-1
#5 Kansas 5-2
#6 Pittsburgh80 4-2-1
Wild Cards (#7-12 seeds)
#7 Miami92 4-2-1
#8 Nebraska83 3-2-1
#9 Alabama 4-3
#10 BostonColl84 4-3
#11 Clemson81 3-3-1
#12 Washington91 3-3
1ST ROUND
#12 Wash91 @ #7 Miami92
Prediction: Wash 35-32
Reason: Coach Tony seems to score 50 on everybody except Coach Jeff…and Coach John. These two have found ways to continually wreak havoc on Tony’s teams, and while the Huskies are on a 3 game slide, they are more than talented enough to pull this “upset”.
#11 Clem81 @ #8 Neb83
Prediction: Clem 28-24
Reason: Nebraska has played well, but teams with speedy Linebackers have been able to shut down the Husker’s pounding running game. Taking the lead from Pitt and Stanford, Clemson top-rated back 7 has more than enough know-how to stuff the wishbone, and they should be able to muster enough points to win this game against an average Husker D.
#10 BC84 @ #9 Bama
Prediction: BC 50-48
Reason: Bama probably shouldve beat the Eagles the first time they played, but we expect the BC Offense to be fully in tune if these teams meet for a rematch. BC’s aerial power could take them very far in the playoffs.
2ND ROUND
#12 Wash91 @ #6 Pitt80
Prediction: Pitt 31-30
Reason: The Huskies should have won their earlier meeting, but the usual Pitt 4th Quarter breaks did the job, as Pitt held on with a 4th and 10 conversion at their own 20 to seal the game. We see the pumped up Huskies getting out to a big lead, only to see a few fumbles/INT not only let Pitt back in the game, but let Pitt win, also.
#11 Clem81 @ #5 Kansas
Prediction: Kansas by default
Reason: Kansas would get a free win and automatically advance to the Bowl round since both are Jeff’s teams. The higher seeded team advances.
#10 BC84 @ #4 FloridaSt87
Prediction: FSU 71-57
Reason: There will be little to no defense, but FSU is simply too strong. BC has no shot of stopping FSU, but FSU’s top talented defensive back should be able to force enough stops to win.
BOWL ROUND
Sugar Bowl: #4 FSU87 @ #3 UGA
Prediction: UGA by default
Reason: Both are aaron’s teams, so higher seeded UGA advances. While this eliminates one of Aaron’s teams, it also guarantees UGA 1 step closer to a title, for free!
Orange Bowl: #5 Kansas @ #2 Stanford
Prediction: Kansas 25-19
Reason: These classic rivals would meet for the 5th time in 2 season, this time with a potential title shot on the line. In what would be an instant-classic, we see Kansas with a goal-line stand to win the game and advance to the title round of 3.
Fiesta Bowl: #6 Pitt80 @ #1 Miami91
Prediction: Miami 30-27
Reason: Miami-Pitt V might be heralded as the game of the year, probably more hyped than the title game itself. The ECC titans would meet with Pitt winning the last 3 of the series. Pitt took this years game 41-37 after coming back from 14 down with 4 to go. However, after this game #32 for Pitt has been shut down, and with Pitt struggling to find other options, we’ll take Miami…for now.
TITLE GAME ENTRANCE GAME
#5 Kansas @ #3 Georgia
#1 Miami bye
Prediction: Kansas 38-37
Reason: Another rematch of a earlier played game, we think Kansas has the perfect team to beat the dawgs. With a prodding option attack, and a stubborn defense, we see the Jayhawks giving Aaron and his eccentric west coast system fits.
CHAMPIONSHIP
#5 Kansas @ #1 Miami91
Prediction: Miami 40-33
Reason: The game of the century. Last season, this was the game everybody wanted until Pitt and Stanford spoiled the party. However, we think this year is THE YEAR, and we also think it is time for the Canes to win it all. Last year it took several Cane turnovers to lose 17-14 to KU. The Canes refused to come out of their nickel shell and KU ran all over them. However this season only 1 team out of 7 has run for 100 yards on the Cane D, and it is the main reason Miami91 is mostly blowing everybody away. We salute KU and admire their valiant efforts and winning ways, but to expect KU to beat a Miami91 team which simply has too much going for it is not right at this time.
