Stanford's plan was to go shotgun on every play and throw lobs...no matter how many defenders it took to force it through. Somehow, time after time, Stanford WRs kept coming down with the ball.
Stanford led 35-21 going into the 4th and had the ball atg midfield. They threw deep on 3rd down, but the pass was 15 yards overthrown, somehow PI is called and Stanford gets 1st and goal at the 1. Then Miami made the defensive play of the year. Stanford lined up in Shotgun and Miami had a 7 man front. Stanford tried to quick-drill a pass but the Miami LB user-picked it and ran it back to the 40.
Miami would score to cut it to 35-28. Stanford was scared to run the ball so theyh kept throwing and after throwing into triple coverage all game long, Miami finally picked it off. Miami drove to the 20 but soon faced 4th down. They threw to a guy wide open at the 1 yard line for the sure TD. He drops the ball.
Stanford then faces 3rd and 10 and Miami has to get the stop with 1 min left. Stanford is under pressure, so they drop back 20 yards and have to throw a float. A crowd of 6 guys get under it...5 Miami and 1 Stanford WR. The WR gets the ball, game over.
