Below that is the player order. The BW-Montana(avail for download) replacement team is listed next to each team. Having issues finding some of the codes for some teams (AD28, B2F8, B010, AF18). Even tried looking in the Joe Montana fx.bin with the uniform color fixes, are these the right codes for the teams? Some other codes are found multiple times within the file so it's hard to find out where the team data is.
Is the team data in order like it is in the Madden files or are the teams spread out all over the file?
Also....does the QB data for Los Angeles for example, is the actual QB data B18483 or does the QB data start AFTER the B184?

Okay, no problem. Since you are new to this, it can be confusing. The Letters/numbers next to each team name above are hex addresses (locations) of each team. To go to the start of the LA team roster data, you would go to that address listed, in this case it is B184. hex code goes like this in smaller to larger - (0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F) for 16 bit data. If you go to B184, the first numbers at that address are 00 5A 86 F1, which are the QB ratings, then 00 3D DD F7 (WR1 rating) etc..

I just realized how to look them up correctly and then saw your post. Perfect! Makes sense, looking forward to tweaking some of these player ratings.
Any recommendation on how to make this game a little harder? I love the gameplay but most games I'm blowing out the computer by 30+ points, would like to try and make it a little more competitive.
Was thinking of just reducing my teams player ratings but wasn't sure if there would be a better way.....

Yes, take your favorite team and make them worse, and you can also make the other teams better. One thing to note, if you have not noticed, is that in the championship game, the team your are playing will be a lot faster than normal with super speed.
So playoff mode is the probably the most challenging way to play 1 player.

Looking at some of the QB ratings, they seem to be a little off from what I remember back from the 1990 season.
The RANGE attribute......do you know if that's used to measure how far the QB can throw downfield?
And do you know if the Los Angeles team is based on Raiders or Rams?

The Joe Montana Football game is not based on any NFL teams or players, which is why the original rom has mis-matching uniform colors. The only relation to the NFL is that the game uses NFL cities, and the San Francisco team might resemble the 49er's somewhat more than the other cities resemble NFL teams, (Since Montana was a 49'er).
