Washington drove and tied Miami at 7-7 at 1:00 in the 2nd half. On the following kickoff, the Miami return man missed kickoff return, and the ball bounced to the 1, recovered by Washington. Washington scored a TD, and Miami took the next kickoff with 21 seconds left.
Next play however, was an interception. Washington returned it inside the Miami 20 yard line. After one Washington play, and only 6 seconds in the half, Washington kicked a FG from the 10 yard line, to make it a 17-7 lead.
Miami built a 21-17 lead late in half, after Washington fumbled an option pitch. On Washington's next drive late in the 4th, another fumbled pitch went back 20 yards, and Washington barely recovered on their own 1 yard line.
However, the next play was a 50 yard pass reception. and Washington would go on to score and take 24-21 lead.
Miami's next drive was 3 and out. Washington drove inside the Miami 20 yard line, and made Miami burn all their timeouts. Washington was now backed up to the Miami 20 yard line, out of FG range. So now on 4th down with 25 seconds remaining, Washington ran backwards 80 yards back into their own end zone, diving out to the 1 with no time remaining.
