Kansas was 2-0 versus Texas in the regular season, both close games.
Texas had a 10-6 lead in the final seconds of the first half, and was about to add more points. Texas had 3rd and goal from the 5, and was picked off.
In the 2nd half opening kickoff, Texas received, but the slow kick returner could not manage the ball as it rolled by, and Kansas recovered in the back of the end zone for a touchdown, and 13-10 lead.
After this point, things heated up, and both teams traded long bombs for scores. Texas kept backing Kansas up inside their own 5 yard line, but Kansas would always climb out.
Late in the game at 1:45 Texas held Kansas to a 4th down and forced a punt, while leading Kansas 31-23. Texas drove and kicked a FG with 25 seconds remaining, to take a 34-23 lead.
On the next play, Kansas would make 1 play toast, and it was 34-29 Texas, following missed 2 pt convert. Kansas had a little time on the clock, and nearly recovered the onside kick, with a timeout remaining.
Texas downed the ball twice, and held on for a tough win.
