TCU had crushed Todd Reesing all day, including a safety on the first play, and one later in the game. TCU only managed 4 field goals on offense, but had marched up and down the field.
TCU led 16-14 at the Kansas 4 yard line, on 4th down. TCU opted to run a sweep to the right, and try for a touchdown, rather than attempt a field goal, with only 1 minute left. Kansas stopped them.
Kansas took over on their 2 yard line, and in one long pass, was near mid field.
Kansas drove to the TCU 8 yard line, and on 4th down, with 2 seconds left, instead of kicking a field goal to win the game, lined up and threw a pass into the end zone over the confused TCU field goal defense.
