Miami took a 21-7 lead over Pittsburgh late in the first half. Pittsburgh took over with 3 seconds in the half. Pittsburgh made a perfect pass to the Pitt receiver, and ran in with many Dolphins in hot pursuit for an unlikely touchdown.
In the 2nd half Pitt took the ball down, and once again like the 1st half, thanks to dropped passes in the 20 had to settle for another FG attempt, which the previous one was shanked. This attempt was barely good, and Miami clung to a 21-17 lead.
Miami took over and struggled down the field, but managed to convert 3rd and goal, and made it 28-17.
Pitt would score and force a punt, and make it 31-28 with two more touchdowns.
Late in the game down 31-28, Miami was forced to punt again. Pitt munched the clock and took the ball all the way to the Miami 41 with 1:38 remaining, and 3rd down. Miami held Pitt, and Pitt was forced to punt.
Miami completed a long pass by a hair (almost batted down), and moved onto the Pitt side of the field. Miami drove step by step inside the Pitt 20, inside the Pitt 10, munching the last seconds away. Miami ended up on the 2 yard line with a 1st and goal, but Pitt held them to 4th down, batting down passes, and playing perfect defense.
4th down with 2 seconds, and Miami lines up for the FG on the left hash mark that will send the game into overtime, and give Miami the ball. The ball is kicked straight ahead no where near the uprights! Pitt WINS!
A great defensive struggle is won by Pitt
