The 2004 season started with a large league on the Classic BW engine, but was moved to the Montana 1 engine, and then back to the Classic BW engine.
Miami defeated Clemson in a best of 7 series, with the clinching game counted as the Fiesta Bowl.
Stanford defeated Kansas in the best of 7, and the clinching game of that series was counted as the Orange Bowl.
After the flip flopping from the BW to Montana engines (and briefly to Madden91) to be fair, it was decided Miami92 and Stanford should be national champions, since they both had the same amount of wins and losses, and most of their wins came on the classic bw engine.
